Whether you’re interested in hands-on wildlife rehabilitation or supporting the journey in other ways, there’s a place for you at Healing Hands Wildlife Care.

There are two ways to join Healing Hands Wildlife Care: become a Member or become a Connection Volunteer.

Whether you want to become a wildlife rehabilitator or simply lend a helping hand, every member plays an important role in helping rescue, rehabilitate, and release native wildlife throughout the Great Southern.

♡ Not everyone needs to care for wildlife at home. Help in the way that suits you.

As a Member or Connection Volunteer, you’ll become part of a supportive community passionate about protecting our native wildlife. Whether you’re interested in caring for wildlife, public education, photography, building projects, conservation, administration, or simply helping where needed, we’ll support you to learn, grow, and contribute in ways that suit your interests and skills. Every skill has the potential to make a real difference for wildlife in care.

Did you know? Members may even have the opportunity to receive microscope training! It’s one of the many unique learning experiences available to those interested in the science behind wildlife rehabilitation.

Helping wildlife one journey at a time.

As a connection volunteer, your role is to act as a “wildlife taxi”, transporting injured or orphaned wildlife that has already been contained to and from rehabilitators or medical care facilities. Your contribution ensures that these animals receive care quickly and safely.

Connection Volunteers assist by transporting wildlife between rescuers, carers, veterinarians and release locations, providing an essential link in the rehabilitation process and helping ensure wildlife reaches the care it needs. This role is perfect for people who want to help wildlife but may not have the time, space or resources required for hands-on wildlife care. Even a single journey can make a significant difference to an animal’s outcome.

When you volunteer with Healing Hands Wildlife Care, you are also registered as a volunteer with the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA). This means your time and contribution extend beyond HHWC and directly support broader conservation efforts across Western Australia through the DBCA volunteer program.

As a DBCA volunteer, you will be contributing to the vital work of conserving wildlife for future generations.

The HHWC Committee tracks the wildlife in care with our members on a monthly basis, and hours are registered with DBCA quarterly.

Volunteer insurance is provided through the DBCA volunteer program.

Annual rewards are based on hours reported in a financial year and distributed at the end of each financial year as follows:
