Meet Lizzy, our 13-year-old kangaroo matriarch who’s raised no fewer than eight bouncing joeys. And let’s be honest, she’s not just any kangaroo – she’s the *boss* of the bush. With a personality as big as her family tree, Lizzy has mastered the fine art of getting things done (usually by bossing everyone around, including us humans).
Now, one particularly memorable year, Lizzy decided to show us just how clever she really is. One day, she came bounding up to her carer, all flustered and looking very much like a mother on a mission. Her joey – her precious at-foot baby – was missing, and she was not having it. In classic Lizzy style, she demanded her carer’s attention and practically dragged her along behind her.
So off they went, carer trailing after her like an obedient (and slightly bewildered) sidekick. Lizzy led her straight into the bush where, sure enough, her joey had its leg caught in some wire. Now, if that isn’t the mark of a smart and caring mum, we don’t know what is! Lizzy, with all her sass and smarts, knew exactly where to go and who to ask for help.
From her little joeys to her commanding presence, Lizzy proves that from tiny beginnings, wonderful things grow – especially when you’ve got a mum like her looking out for you. And let’s not forget, still as bossy as ever, even after all these years. Who can blame her?
